Behavior of symlinks in MinixFS (0.6PL11)

I've noticed that symbolic links in MinixFS don't behave like they do in Unix.
In MinixFS, it is possible to change the permissions of a symbolic link; in
Unix, trying to do this will change the permissions of the file that the link
points to.
Is this a bug or a feature?
