Minixfs and removable media

I'm using removable discs (ZIP), some of them with a minix filesystem,
some of them with a TOS filesystem. After booting the machine I can
either insert a minix disc or a TOS disc and everything works fine.
Chnging the disc (without rebooting) for another one with a filesystem
of the same type also works fine. The problem arises if I change to a
disc with a filesystem of another type: I get messages saying that the
filesystem is unreadable.

I think the MiNT kernel tries to determine the type of a filesystem on a
partition the first time this partition is accessed, but is unable (or
unwilling?) to recheck after a media change.

Any suggestions what could be done to enable the media change without
rebooting?
