  I would need to get a source of MiNT port of current ncurses or another
  version of curses which would work under plain TOS as well. 

  I've tried to recompile ncurses 1.9.9 but the ncurses test programs bombs
  :-(

  Could you please help me? Or do you know someone who is able to port
  ncurses to MiNT/TOS?

I ported ncurses when I ported the latest version of Lynx. I'll put it
on the archive if you're interested.
