Maybe 1.44meg .ST disk images could be made, then compressed with Bzip 2.01.
The installer would create a temp directory on the hard drive and the
installer allows the user to select which files to be loaded (some presets
would be there such as Easy Install, Programmer', W-Windows, MiNT-GEM (with
XaAES, fVDI), MiNT-X. Then you have various other .ST images that can be
downloaded for CAB, GEM++, etc. The installer would create one to four RAM
disk according to the available memory to uncompress and load the .ST images
into. This way, the installer can be used for other MiNT/GEM/X,W-Window
upgrades. Since .ST has been created thanks to the PacifiST team, it might as
well be used. An .ST utility that would allow .ST disk to be created in 720k.
1.44m, and 2.88m would be useful as well as a means of mounting them as
virtual RAM diskettes with file system preservation (VFAT, TOS, etc.) would be
nice. This could be further expanded to allow Hard File Images of 20M and
100M that would remain on the hard drive as seen by MiNT as Virtual Hard Drive
files good for Zip and Floptical users. Especially if Mac emulation ever
finds it's way back to Atari computers (under MiNT :'>)
