You are.
We were talking about binaries in general, not just kernels. ;-)
Example of this, the recent Pine 4.10 port by Juhani is compiled
with -m68881 by default (unless someone removed it from Makefile
and recompiled it), which several people complained aboubt.
We were not discussing the benefits of using -m68881 either, just
commenting on what default compiling switches can (should?) be
expected.
