Hmm, I don't understand. The latest kernels contain a mechanism for a
clean shutdown. Dlock() and Shutdown() will clean an ext2 partition (if
it's possible). Work here ok. e2fsck will always detect if a partition
is clean or not and perform only a check if it's neccessary. Without
MinixFS partitions you can skip the /etc/fastboot mechanism and always
start e2fsck.

A parallelising fsck will be much slower if you check partitions on the
_same_ harddisk in parallel (head trashing). It make only sense for
different harddisk and with _nonblocking_ read/write operations.

To use a parallelising fsck is easy. I can send you an updated version of
'fsck' from the e2fsprogs what work as expected :-).
