I must admit that I don't know much either beside what Thorsten told me on
the phone - it seems that a lot of functionality is currently implemented in
the library. Yes, it is BSD socket-alike, but only the calls to the library
are, not the ones to the kernel, which makes it difficult to use them when
you can't link the library as is.

Furthermode, it seems that the TCP/IP stack is not cleanly intergrated with
the kernel, but partly a kind of hack that hooks into parts of the system
which it should not do for a clean design.

Correct me if I am wrong.
