The Toswin 2.4 final does something which previous versions didn't, and
which might be a very bad idea; it calls itself a vt100. This is
strange, because I didn't know I had a real DEC VT-100 dumb terminal (or
a *perfect* emulation, complete with bugs, padding requirements and the
"musical keyclick" <g>) on my desk. ;)
The linefeed sequence is different for tw100...? Change the term
identifier back to tw100 and the bells will go away.
Calling a terminal something it isn't, just to try to get barebones
compatibility with UN*X systems with uncooperative sysadmins, is a messy
kludge that really shouldn't be an unchangeable default in a release
application.
Maybe it would be better to have it as a selectable preference? (That
way, if you need the kludge, you can turn it on, but keep it off for
local applications.)
