Um - no.

The SQ stands for 'signal quality'. The only thing that is tested is that
the link between your NIC and the external tranceiver has not been eaten by
mice (remember: when using 10Base5, the tranceiver is located at the medium,
and is connected to the NIC by a 15-pin tranceiver cable).

If you have SQE enabled, the tranceiver generates a short collision pulse
after every packet sent, which is checked by the NIC. It does not tell you
anything about the data, you just know that the packet has successfully
reached the tranceiver (and the medium, provided the tranceiver is not bad).

When attaching an external tranceiver to a hub/repeater, you need to turn
off SQE, since they will treat this as a real collision, and will either
consume bandwith or completely lock out that port (late collisions are not
allowed).
