I am all in favour of something like this: no \auto\mintboot.cnf then
behave as normal. If mintboot.cnf exists, then go with it's settings.
It makes sense. If a user wants greater control, let them have it.
I would like to see supported in mintboot.cnf:
search path directive;
an X?? directive to limit device drivers to those listed;
ability to enable mp/vm;
to name three. I'm sure other's can think of more.
