I've used 2 different devices:
ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/atari/mint/devices/ehscsi05.tgz source only
This one is still a bit beta, or rather nothing after this version has
been released, not any I know of atleast.
http://home.t-online.de/home/Steffen.Engel/index.htm version 3.06
ftp://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub3/atari/disk/gemar220.lzh
ftp://ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/pub/atari/Utils/Disk/gemar300.zip
GEMAR is shareware, and has some functions disabled, however you don't
have to use gemar.app, instead you use the gemar.xfs.
The xfs is a devicedriver for the tapestreamer so you can use your
favourite tar to archive stuff on the tape.

Dunno about that one, ehscsi and gemar worked with the streamers I have:
Tandberg, Archive Viper and Wangtek.

It worked perfectly fine for me.
