[MiNT] DHCP and Ident

Hello again,

Recently, following a thread about cable-net on comp.sys.atari.st
I've been flooded with requests about how I use the Riebl with my
ISP and how I got around "the DHCP problem."

I haven't. I'm just lucky that my ISP offers static IP.

However, most people don't have the option: it's DHCP or nothing.
Most recent cabe-net providers cannot be bothered or charge twice
the ammount, when someone requests a static IP.

So, is there anyone brave and knowledgable enough who could make
us a MiNT target, using the sources found at www.dhcp.org? ;-)

***

The second most requested protocol is Ident. Some ISP apparently
use it to authenticate users on their proxy and mail server.

RobertK: I know proxy authentication sounds silly. Don't ask.

Anyhow, same problem. No ready-made MiNT target for any of the
opensource Ident packages out there.

In both protocols' cases, there is some m68k optimization data
which could be used as a starting point to make a MiNT target.
This might take some doing, though, as the optimizations are made
with AmigaOS or Linux 68k in mind, supporting only 68020 and up.

Anyhow, if anyone wants to give porting either protocols a try,
I'm still somewhere I could test DHCP until mid-January. After
that, I'm moving to a new place that only uses static IP.
