From a technical point of view, I really don't know where is the line
between the OS and the environment, but from a user point of view, I guess
everyone wants to see a user-friendly GUI on his/her computer, and if we
want to get a TOS-like OS run on the RioRed, it would be good to have such
a GUI... :-)

You're right, compatibility rules ! :-)

I guess a USB manager would be useful : in a near future, you won't be
able to find non USB joysticks / pads / mice / etc.

Perhaps porting SAMBA from Linux would be a fair idea ?

What I meant when speaking about "creating a hardware independant
graphic layer" was to make drivers for modern graphic boards easier to
create : if a full port of the VDI is needed each time we want to run a new
graphic board, 90% of the available programmers will have to work on VDI
porting... :-)

Sadly, I guess the Phenix will never appear... :-/

Fine... :-) However, very few subscriber to this list answered to the
RioRed related messages. I'd like to know why : are MiNT gurus uninterested
in the RioRed project ? Are they just "waiting'n seeing" for the RioRed to
come out before speaking about it ? Are they working in their secret labs ?
;-)
Best regards !
