[MiNT] Ethernet
I got two Genius-adapters from Elmar Hilgart yesterday, and I got them up
and running in about five minutes :-) The throughput is very disappointing
though, around 15Kb/s with STiNG/MagiC on the TT and MiNTnet on the Falcon.
I suspect that this is a problem with either STiNG or MagiC (or perhaps
FTP_SERV on the TT?), as when I was using PLIP I only got ~10Kb/s with the
same configuration, while I got 50-80Kb/s using MiNTnet on both machines. I
will try the MiNTnet driver tonight.
Now that I know that the Falcon was functioning correctly I decided to try
all my VME-cards on the TT again. I now have four of them, none of which has
worked previously:
2x BioDATA VME, one of them definitely defect, the other might work but the
driver doesn't work on the TT.
1x Pams VME, might work.
1x Riebl VME, battery defect but otherwise possibly OK.
Working BioDATA: TT hangs when it receives packets.
Pams: MiNTnet driver crash during boot, I can't get any further than this.
The STiNG-driver apparently works, but hangs when the first packets arrives.
Riebl: MiNTnet driver boots correctly but reports a missing MAC-address. I
then set the MAC-address with ifconfig before setting up the Riebl further,
I get no error messages and ifconfig/route reports sensible results. It
*should* work, but when I ping it from the Falcon the TT hangs. STiNG crash
(and MagiC with it) when it tries to set the MAC-address.
If anybody use either of these cards (esp. the Pams or Riebl, as these are
the only ones that looks like they can be persuaded to work) with either
STiNG or MiNTnet, could you please tell me *how*? It's quite frustrating not
to be able to use them, especially as I'd rather like to use one of the
Genius-adapters on my Stacy instead.
