[MiNT] Problems with modem connection

Hi,

I've got a modem and I am using this way to connect my Falcon to
the internet, mainly for sending and receiving e-mails. It
generally works, but I have some problems:

1) the SpareMiNT pppd 2.3.11 does not work - it can dial
correctly and login to the network, but fails to accept the
peers IP address (which is 1.1.1.1). I must use the pppd 2.2.0e
(which has no problems with it).

2) while receiving data, the pppd interface reports (via
ifconifg) many "in-errors" which I guess are incoming packets
not received correctly. It is about 10 or even 20% of the total
amount of packets received. But this occurs only with received
packets. There are never any "out-errors", and indeed, when
sending data from the computer to the network, the tranfser
seems faster and more flawless, than in reverse direction.

I am using MiNT 1.16.0 compiled out of recent sources. I am
using the SCC driver v. 0.27 from Frank and MiNT-Net 1.6 PL 0.
The RS-232 port (ttyS1) is set to 57600 baud. The modem is
Motorola Premier 33.6K (which I guess is irrelevant). My Falcon
is not modified in any way.

My question is, what can be wrong? I guess, that if there were
problems with hardware flow control (i.e. with Falcon), the
errors would occur also for outgoing packets.
