The problem with GEM is the API.
AES and VDI calls get a pointer to a complex structure that is littered all
over the places with pointers. Very cumbersome to handle in a VM envirnment.
The OBJECT array fully accessible by the AES clients is a immense inconvenience.
It made GEM on a ST feasable of course, but nowadays it is really
a big nuisance.
