well, here the opengl won't help, obviously. But non-JIT ARAnyM on
Athlon XP > 1.2 GHz is faster than Afterburner (68040@40MHz) so your
g4@1GHz shouldn't be slower than Milan40@25 (they say PPC is faster than
x86 at same freq). Unless you have Milan60 or something.

it speeds up the CPU ten times (10x) on average.
