You should perhaps also consider the possibility that some may
actually *enjoy* handling the GEM part of the application themselves?
This is certainly true in my case.

Well, if certain functions are added to the AES, they are not user
libs per definiation I'd say. Some things may be better off in a
separate user lib, while others may be best kept in the AES. The
opinions clearly differs here.

As for Lp's comment on OS developement, I could not agree more. I
think we must allow a system component such as the AES to evolve
beyond the N.AES compatibility and take things from there. P

Perhaps the current state is enough for some, which feel it is better
to depend on dozens of users libs in order to get an application
working on every possible old AES on the Atari. Many obviously
disagrees, but I would much prefer seeing the MiNT/XaAES combo turned
into a more powerful environment at the same time as backwards
compatibility is there too of course.

Anyway, I sense this topic is getting nowhere. It seems the WCOWORK
discussion is being turned into a gazillion other off-topic
discussions. I am getting real pessimistic on the FreeMiNT future
after listening to all the negative feedback of Ozk's work to be quite
honest. I just hope he keeps on doing good technical solutions even if
others wants him to supply quick fixes in order to have their code
running as-is. Progress requires changes, IMHO.
