Hi Jim,

You are the first person to confirm this problem. :-) At least I
am not going mad.

Not sure what ftp package you are running but I have found this
freeze happens in MyMail, Newsie (mail and ftp), aFTP and even
stops Highwire from downloading large image files.

What network driver are you using ? I find this problem does not
happen with a modem only when using the rtl8139 card.

Do you have problems formatting floppy discs ?
