I am using one of the many versions of 1.16.3 that have been released
and Thing is ok in that.

I think Jinnee does it's dialogues differently to Thing.

Now that we know the floppy bug is related to syslogsd, yes I
could just kill syslogd but the diaogue bug makes 1.17 pretty
unusable.
