If you have large & full file system and little RAM, make sure that your
dosfsck version source includes patch from here:
	https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dosfstools/+bug/189184

Dosfsck keeps the whole file system structure in RAM and versions
without the patch could use quite a bit of RAM (depending on FAT
table size and libc allocator memory overhead).
