I'm not accustomed with the FreeMiNT kernel. But I don't know where that -lgcc16 comes from, I know no such thing in gcc. FreeMiNT gurus will answer.However, since -mshort is on the command line, -lgcc instead of that wrong -lgcc16 should do what is expected. I don't know why the makefiles are wrong.
