I haven't recently tried the helmut-mint to see if it doesn't
happen there but I will do.

Yes from

INIT=u:\sbin\init


/etc/ttytab has the line

console "/usr/bin/aes"  tw52    on secure


and aes is a link created in mint.cnf

sln c:\mint\1-17-cur\xaaes\xaloader.prg  u:\usr\bin\aes
