Why not keep GEM-applications confined tu /usr/GEM with an appropriate
directory structure like it is/was done for Xorg/X11?  Seems very
logical to me.  If you are too lazy to type in the full path for an app
in Bash, export PATH=$PATH;/usr/GEM/bin.
