How it works is irrelevant. Users don't care about the inplementation.
They DO care that their desktops are broken.

No one has yet answered the original question of how to turn this crap off.

People seem to have forgotten what defines an Operating System.
It is there to enhance the usability of the hardware by user applications.,

An OS is not there to do application level stuff.
It is not there to stop applications doing what they were designed to do.

The aes shouldn't even have it's own menu and desktop screen, that has
always been a strange feature that should be removed.
