That patch seems to work! I wonder why I did not find this back in the  
days ;)

I remember talking to Guido Flohr ages ago about this problem, and he said  
it's too complicated or impossible, maybe that's why I did not even think  
of changing something in the tty-mode-settings.

I'll see if there are side-effects but I don't think there are.
