I think I have found something that might give a clue as to what is
happening.

When I click the "hide" button to shrink the Ming down to Multistrip,
and then unhide Ming again, the menu switched to a different app each
time:

MyMail, XaAES, Toswin2, Ming, Bubbles, MyMail

Desk Acc don't have a menu but if they are also being included then
it is possible the Ctrl-Q is being sent to Sound Mixer.
