"cat" does not seem to be the problem, as the same happens with "echo".
I believe the problem is somewhere between bash, the MiNTLib and the kernel.
This bug is very annoying, it prevents any configure script to run correctly.

No, I just tested it and it works fine for me.

If someone else can reproduce, let me know.
