[Freemint-list] Event triggered network

Just thinking.... will there be any improvement in networking application if Mintnet becomes event driven?
I mean most GEM program are in a loop waiting for an event, so instead of waiting on a socket and "hanging", the application can wait for the event telling it that some network data is ready for it.
Of course overhead of Event management may negate any performance gain... i.e. an event come every time you have a packet of data...
