ELF exes could be run either by conversion or via a helper app as suggested.
Are they many cases of using mint packages without having Mint running ?
I suppose there are those emergencies when mint won't boot and you have to use TOS to fix the problem.
Maybe a bit more integration of busybox might eliminate that need ?
I think the real achievement is that gcc6 has been proved to create binaries that can be run on mint and also that ELF can be converted and run.

You mean supporting loading ELF files in Mint? Maybe. But that would mean you would not be able to run the executable on Single-TOS and MagiC anymore.
