I don't understand the problem here. GEM programs aren't supposed to write to 
console, and i don't know of any program that does. If you have some, then it 
is probably one of your own programs that writes some debug info, and you just 
forgot to remove the output.

If you do want to see some debug output during development, then you have to 
open a console anyway.
