Yes, thats expected if AHDI somehow handles that. AHDI does not call DMAread, 
it has its own versions. As already explained, TOS itself uses this functions 
only during early boot to read the rootsector. Still DMAread/DMAwrite are 
documented TOS functions, and i still bet that they will bomb on your machine 
;) (on both of them actually, since the TOS functions don't use the blitter).
