Yes, cam.org is my ISP...  So the X server goes through the
'hosts' file, perhaps, and tries to connect to a suitable host. 
Now, I surmise that 'dst 0' is the local host?  It looks like
there is something in my setup that prevents my machine from
talking to itself over TCP/IP.  I've had odd error messages of
that nature in the past (unrelated to X), but never investigated
them because connections to outside hosts work OK. I guess now
would be a good time to start looking...
