Vconsole question...

  Okay, I've booted up with Mint. I type in gem at my login, and get my
  N.aes/Thing desktop. I double-click "login" and get an open console,
  then login as my normal user. At this point, am I in vconsole1 or
  something else? If I do an alt-F1 when I first boot up (no gem), then
  I get a very fast scrolling window. Under thing, my console window is,
  well...a little slow. Anyway I can speed this up? Thanks! ;-)
