pppd and chat expect to deal with a tty instead of a device name.
Strange but true. No idea why. Frank tried explaining twice...

In my MINT.CNF, I have those symlinks:

sln u:\dev\modem1 u:\dev\ttya
sln u:\dev\modem2 u:\dev\ttyb
sln u:\dev\serial1 u:\dev\ttyc
sln u:\dev\serial2 u:\dev\ttyd
sln u:\dev\midi u:\dev\ttye

This allows any application that wants the device names to use
them, but also keeps pppd happy because it will find tty's.

1) You need a kernel 1.14.3 or better that supports 115k baud.
2) You need a patched pppd also (2.2.0f by Howard Chu is good).
3) You need the above symlinks in your MINT.CNF.

This should work.

If not, I suggest contacting Odd Skanke or Timo Tiihonen for
help; they are both Hades users. Look on Lonny Pursell's page
at http://www.bright.net/~atari/ for The Atari Clone Directory
where you will find contact adresses of other Hades users.

I hope this helps. ;-)
