Why does that sound like I am using HSModem. MiNT makes
/dev/modemX and /dev/SerialX by default, but in the mint.snf, there are
some MV commands to make them into the /dev/ttyX.

I was using the scc.xdd but that was then I got the strange error
messages. Since I disabled it, I have gotten different strange error
messages. I do notice that I don't get them on ttya or ttyb, so maybe I
will try hooking the cable up to those and see if I get a connection.
