I took a look, perhaps not very close. I have nothing against fixing bugs in
my code, I just meant that the kernel switches to the default table
'silently, unless someone changed the behaviour in the mean time' so, that
it would printout a message on the console about missing table.

Hope this is clear now :-)

Yes, but even plain data are easier to be edited with a dedicated program,
than manually via hex editor.
