Re: [MiNT] Corruption of high TPA

After hours of struggle, I finally managed to reproduce the memory violation with my usual EasyMiNT setup. The only problem is to properly turn on memory protection.

It is actually very simple.

1) Do not change your MINT.CNF or ARAnyM configuration file

2) Make sure your C:\AUTO folder contains SET_MMU.PRG and MMUSETUP.CNF before MINTARA.PRG

3) Start aranym-mmu. When MiNT asks to "Hold down the SHIFT key to enter menu", press once the left shift key. In the menu, press the <5> key to get "Memory protection: yes". Then press Return to exit and save the MINT.INI file.

4) Start tst.tos: it will crash with a memory violation.

So it seems that the memory protection options in MINT.CNF are now useless, and they are read from the MINT.INI file written by the MiNT boot menu.

This is the result of my experimentation, additional information from kernel masters would be welcome.
