Re: [MiNT] RPM

I am working with 4.4.2.3 I think from RPM.org. I figure the rpm.org way jives better with our project but I don't know the advantages to following one vs the other.

I'm also finding that out. Even the configure scripts are a mess, forcing stuff like PIC even when shared libraries aren't used. stupid stupid.

Thanks,
Mark

And, this might be a stupid question, but RPM was kind of murky, whose RPM 4.4.x are you working with, if you can provide a link to the package, since there are 2 competing 'RPMs' now. IIRC, one is the 'official' Red Hat version (Official because Red Hat uses it) and the other was by the original author who left Red Hat and did his own thing (I think that is rpm.org, he might be 5.x versions though).

Please let me know any suggestions, input, whether or not you are already working on it so we don't duplicate effort, etc. I'm starting with 4.4x as kind of the "oldest" newer version to see what I'm up against. I tried to download newer src.rpm's to examine their spec's and found that I couldn't install them. That won't do.
