There is no MiNT-Net 141. This is the version of init (called "MiNTOS").

I'm pretty sure there is no named running on your local host. Remove
this line.

I'm not sure, but traditional resolvers support only three nameservers.

You should include the (official) FQDN for an IP address *first* in
your hosts file and *then* the aliases:
203.4.148.180 thelbane.brisnet.org.au thelbane
203.4.148.1 gateway1.brisnet.org.au gateway1
The domain brisnet.org in nonexistant in the DNS.

Sorry, I don't understand your problem. How do you try to resolve the
hostnames? Does nslookup work? Did you setup /etc/host.conf and did
you recompile your network applications with the latest socket library
with the `new' resolver?
