Resolution by gethostbyname(). Example:

# telnet localhost
localhost: unknown host

Same result for any of the aliases. 'thelbane' My own hostname only works 
on a good day. I can't recompile anything at this stage, because I am 
still fetching the compilers et al, through a 2400 baud link when it 
isn't choked with other traffic.
