PNG libraries
Here's a message I've just sent to the GEM Programmer's mailing list.
Basically, I'm making preliminary GNU C and Lattice C libraries for
dealing with PNG graphics files available.
PNG is an up-to 24-bit lossless image format, seen as a replacement for
GIF since UNISYS decided to start charging people for using the (now
obsolete) LZW compression in GIF. For more information, point your web
browser at http://quest.jpl.nasa.gov/Info-ZIP/people/greg/png.html or
grab the documents from ftp.uu.net:/graphics/png/documents.

Ok, I've uploaded my preliminary PNG libraries for GNU C and Lattice C
to quest.jpl.nasa.gov in /ftp/beta/Atari-png:
quest.jpl.nasa.gov:/ftp/beta/Atari-png

If you grab these, please grab the source code from
ftp.uu.net:/graphics/png/code. Code for some other handy utils can also
be found there, such as gif2png, a png to TIFF converter, a PNG validity
checker, etc.
ftp.uu.net:/graphics/png/documents has the PNG spec and a bunch of other
info.
ftp.uu.net:/graphics/png/images has several sample PNG images to help
test your programs.
Enjoy! And if you come up with better project files for Lattice, please
let me know!
