MiNT drive/path alias

Here's a question about the "alias" command in MiNT.CNF...

If I do this:

alias b: \some\path

and I don't pysically have a B: floppy drive, does it update the system
variable that indicates the number of floppy disks attached?  I mean, it
really should, since accesses on B: now go somewhere, and you want to
fool programs into thinking there's a B: drive...
