Hi Peter, Just 1 word GREAT :)
Finally a patch that actually worked on my falcon videl! No more of
sync bug :)

Few suggestions though:

Would it be possible that IF /etc is not accessible when writing the
new registers, that it would save it in current dir?
coz see, to get 1 res I couldn't get the aes under mint to display it
correctly, so I had to load into singletos to display the mono res I
wanted. Then just copy the file current_dir/resolution into /etc and
reboot or something like that.

2) would it be possible to assign colors AS argument to vconsd? 
Background text and foreground. Black on WHite is quite odd I have to
say, and kill my eyes everytime.
At least 1 flag such as -revert. OR -f (for foreground) xxxxxxxxxxx
color palette, and -b (background) xxxxxxxxxxx (being all the bits)
If not possible I would have to recompile your src with the color I
like the best (personal tastes, yellow on blue, easy on the eyes).

3) you might want to apply Artbl patch on the next ttydev (he redid
few modules from ttydev8 into ASM, (much faster)), and is working on
vt100 emulation directly and probably mouse emulation.
I don't know where he is now on the ttydev. But we got to get a beta
with paint.c and hmm screen.c? in asm. noticeably faster.
