Re: FreeAES

	Bonjour,

Dans son message, Mario Becroft a écrit :
« What about a TOS emulator for Linux 68K or NetBSD. Could the VDI and AES
« be implemented so that they fit in with X, so that a window opened by a
« GEM application will become a window under X and so on (rather than having
« a single window in which the whole TOS screen is visible). This way GEM
« apps could be used under X just like X apps, without a discernable
« difference to the user. Unlike other emulators, there would not be a
« significant loss of speed this way since the CPU is not being emulated.
« I'm not familiar with X, so I don't know whether my suggestion is at all
« sensible. Perhaps someone else can comment on this?

Well, in a certain way that's what I'm working on :-)
	For the moment, it's mainly a common GEM/X lib, GEM-oriented - with
some of the basic AES and VDI functions yet available. The aim was to have a
simple way to _compile_ C programms for GEM on X-Window machine, so that they
can run under X with a X interface. But I think with a little more work and a
little help, it can reproduce an AES/VDI (?).
For the moment, it runs on sunos, solaris, irix, linux/i486 and
linux/68k [thanks to Christian Marillat who made tests for that one].

For more details, please ask me by e-mail or get an example of
programm which compile on both X and GEM with it at :

http://www.eleves.ens.fr:8080/home/curis/XExafs.zip [sources for X-version with lib]
http://www.eleves.ens.fr:8080/home/curis/exafs.zip [compiled GEM version]

I think it may be a starting point for such an emulator... [but I
personnaly don't have any knowledge to do that]
Please do not modify sources which are in XExafs.zip without asking first...
