That was probably before the look was slimmed down quite a bit.

If you're talking about the grey menus, those are gone too now. Apart from
some clipping errors the menus now look as usual.

I got one of the early betas to compile under GCC, but with each new
version some new things broke. I think someone else posted a small diff
for beta7, though, so it might still be compilable.
I don't remember if the PureC patches ever worked correctly.

As long as you use the MiNT libs, I don't think it matters much if you
have a slightly out of date Lattice C.
