Except perhaps to the extent that existing free utilities could
be ported more easily if we adopt an existing standard? (But
that need not be a decisive factor if we have other reasons to
go our own way. See below.)

I don't think it's lack of interest... IMHO lack of familiarity
is probably more like it. As a complete know-nothing-bozo in
these matters, I would still venture that going the Fenix way is
preferable, since it fits the general direction MiNT is evolving
towards. If I want Linux, I know where to get it. In the end,
though, I think basically the first person to actually implement
shared libs in a sane, practical way, will set the standard.
