[MiNT] New software ported to mint; change of address
Hello MiNTers,
Firstly, my email address has changed since a few weeks to
mb@gem.win.co.nz . My old mb@tos.pl.net address become invalid after the
5th of December. Also my WWW page is now at http://gem.win.co.nz/ .
Now if anyone is interested I have compiled for MiNT the most recent
version 1.06 of Taylor UUCP. With this I am no longer getting the crashes
that were occuring with the older 1.04 version from KGMD (at least I
haven't yet - I am crossing my fingers). However there is a problem in
that uucico freezes after it detach from the the controlling terminal. (It
seems to work fine if the --nodetatch option is specified.) If any of the
UNIX/MiNT gurus have an idea why this might be (is it a common problem?) I
would be grateful to hear from you, otherwise I'll try to debug it
sometime. The old 1.04 version didn't have this problem, so I am also
searching for the diffs from that version.
I also have had for some time a few other programs working under MiNT
(mgetty+sendfax, vgetty, c-news, netpbm, rsynth) which I will endevour to
get organised and available via ftp sometime soon.
I would make those RPM packages except after starting to read the manual
it all looks so complicated, that really I would rather spend my time
working on more software instead of trying to figure out how RPM works. If
someone could write a very simple guide to using RPM that doesn't require
hours of reading to get an understanding of how it works, that would be
different. (Or maybe there is such documentation and I've just been
looking in the wrong places?)
