[MiNT] Problems with pppd 2.3.11

Hi

I am using a dial-up connection to get on the Internet. I am using MiNT
1.16.0 compiled out of latest src, scc.xdd v.0.27 and pppd 2.2.0e. The
/etc/ppp/options file is:

lock
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -f $HOME/.chat-script"
modem
crtscts
debug
passive
defaultroute
/dev/ttyS1
57600

All this works. However, when I switch to pppd 2.3.11 (all the same
setup apart of this), the chat program dials and logs in, but the pppd
hangs the connection up after a short while. The /var/log/messages
record is as follows:

Apparently the pppd complains about the peer address 1.1.1.1. But since
this is public internet provider, I cannot change that, naturally :-)
Moreover, neither Unices, nor Windows, and not even MiNT pppd 2.2.0e
seems to have problem with it. So whats wrong?
