[MiNT] CT60 Alt Ram Troubles
Hello,
I posted a message to usenet regarding this issue and was advised to
post to the mint mailing list. For some reason when I load MiNT (no
problems under TOS or MagiC) my 256 megs of TTram are being unrecognized
under mint. The kernel actually recognizes 256megs of alt ram but at
the end of boot the system reports the same amount of ttram and stram
free. (3.9megs). Before I managed to get things working with what I
thought was simply setting the FASTLOAD flag to YES in the mint.cnf but
this time around it seems not to be working. I very recently lost my
boot partition due to a mistake on my behalf of trying to use
fsck.vfat. I am having this problem with 1.15 kernels and alpha
kernels, I can disable all xdd and xfs and still have the problem. I
can disable every single application on my system and still have the
problem. It's definately something centered squarely in the MiNT cnf.
I either changed or commented out CACHE, FASTLOAD, or BIOSBUF and
everything magically started working flawlessly.
The RAM actually isn't available either. GCC freaks out so the reported
free ram is what is actually free.
The strangest thing is that the available TTram exactly matches the
available STram and that hte system sees the full 256, just at bootup
there is only the exact same amount as stram free.
More info? I will be happy to give it.
Thanks,
Mark
